Watched Sex and the City 2 ALONE at Shaw Towers today. Although i was supposed to meet Terry, Benny, Ronny and Wang Liang at 5pm for dinner, i decided to go down early to window shop. Went down to ION before walking over to Shaw Towers.
Ate Double Cheeseburger and drank a small cup of ice lemon tea before watching the movie.
Overall, the movie paints a rosy picture of an ideal relationship and also how exquisite lives are, in the buzzing streets of New York. It's too rosy as it is way to relaxing. They just party and go on shopping all day long. The relationship between Carrie Bradshaw and John "Mr. Big" Preston is simply too amazing. Both parties contributed significantly to their individual roles as Husband and wife despite not having a single child. What i envy most is Mr Preston's magnanimous heart when he heard about Carrie's fling with her ex-boyfriend during their trip to the Middle East with her girls. On top of that, their corny remarks certainly added colors to their conversation. The only tradeoff to this seemingly perfect relationship would be that Carrie CANNOT cook!
As i watched the movie, many thoughts start flowing through my mind. Indeed, time is one crucial problem that many couples are facing. Like the phrase ' Familiarity breeds contempt ' suggests, everyone just loses the 'Sparkle' as they get together for a long time. In the movie, John would sit on the couch and watch TV whenever he gets home from work and Carrie would keep on prompting and reminding John to bring the 'Sparkle' back into their 'mundane' relationship and i think it's really commendable!
Also, they've got a house reserved for anyone who needs a break from the hectic society. At Carrie's old house, they can actually enjoy the serenity and do whatever they want, be it reading a magazine or taking a long nap. It's such a wonderful idea isn't it? I'm sure everyone needs a quiet place at some point of time to reflect and think through but it's not realistic in Singapore unless you're able to afford private housing.
Sorry movie, YK's gonna stay realistic so i shall forgo the option of getting into a relationship.
-YK ; Love is such a beautiful thing.
